Chaz Bono and Jennifer Elia just announced their engagement. Bono’s mother is Cher. He is featured in a new documentary film called Becoming Chaz. He said that they are planning to marry before the end of 2011.

This is actually a story of a wedding that didn’t happen, but it’s a great story so I am posting it anyway. The couple duped city workers into granting them a marriage license by misrepresenting Nelson as a woman. Despite identifying as transgender, Nelson remains male in the eyes of the law, which makes marriage illegal for this couple in New York. The license was revoked. Details here and here.
