Wedding Equality

Perry founded Metropolitan Community Churches, a Christian denomination with special outreach to LGBT people, in 1968. The pair married at the Metropolitan Church of Toronto. At the time of their marriage, the Los Angeles couple had already been together for 18 years. After marrying legally in Canada, the couple sued the state of California to have their marriage recognized. The matter of same-sex marriage in California is still not resolved. In the picture, they are holding their marriage license. Perry was quoted as saying, “Thank God for Canada.” Check out Perry’s web site.
